Whilst a short novel there are plenty of strong characters and some interesting narratives and sub plots? Did you have a favourite and whose story would you like to have seen developed?
'Cakes and Ales' is a metaphor for the good life. Who do you think was living the good life and how do you think we could learn from their life experiences?
The novel is about Maugham's world and a critique of writers in literary London. Do you think this world still exists today and is it okay to not like a book that is 'highly acclaimed' in the industry?
