A SPOOL OF BLUE THREAD
Enchanting family saga
460 pages

BY ANNE TYLER

460 pages

Home is where the heart is. And if you like a family saga, here is Anne Tyler’s story of a home built by a wholesome American family in the 1920s Baltimore that houses its own narrative and sees four generations pass through it carrying their own secrets with unguarded moments clinging to its walls. But don’t expect the American Dream.

A Spool Of Blue Thread is an absorbing and intriguing story of a family life, full of complex characters with a strong matriarch, Abby.  Once you have stepped in, you’re hooked.

As a book club read it gave us lots to unpick. And you will get to love or hate the characters and their actions.

A long-ish read. But it has a strong, light and humorous pace and you will want to follow the threads.  A book you will happily pass on.
